Tillige studerende ved Master of Fine Art, Sandberg Institute Gerrit Rietveld Academie i Amsterdam, Holland.

THIS IS A MIRROR YOU ARE A PHOTOGRAPH

by Rikke Ehlers Nilsson

Opening: Friday 7th of June 5–9 pm.
Exhibition period: Saturday 8th – Sunday 9th of June 2013
Opening hours: Saturday and Sunday 12–7 pm.

This exhibition presents several new works by the artist which seek to reinterpret the relationship a photographic work can have in terms of its documentation. By using both repetition in the image production process and appropriation as a methodology these works destroy, dissect, rearrange and manipulate imagery. Blending pictures from references as varied as kitsch/art historical nature motifs and a generic variety of youth image culture, questions are also raised about the 21st century relationship between language and image through a subtle and emotive aesthetic.

In collaboration with the graphic designer Cecilie Kvorning Olsson a publication is made, that will be issued at the opening.

Rikke Ehlers Nilsson lives and works in Amsterdam where she is currently a Master of Fine Arts candidate at the Sandberg Instituut. She previously graduated from The Funen Art Academy and George Enescu Universitatea de Arte, from the department Photography and Video in Iaşi, Romania.
